About Our Company
When we first formed our company, and decided to call ourselves “Next Year’s News,” we knew we were going to provoke a lot of curiousity about our name. The questions we hear most often and our answers to them say as much about our way of doing business as our positioning statement, “Communication: Whatever It Takes.”
“Just exactly what IS ‘Next Year's News’?”
Our answer to this is: “Next Year’s News is what we help our clients to be.” Our name is a mini-mission statement and a challenge to live up to for each of us at NYN. It doesn’t just mean doing work that’s on the cutting edge in our field (although it can, and often does) it means putting our clients on the cutting edge in their field, and measuring our success by theirs.
“How did you come up with a name like that?”
Our name, like all our best creative solutions, came from defining the problem then solving it. The problem, as we saw it, was: How do we convey what we stand for as an organization without using all the usual marketing-communication buzz words, like “creative,” “imagination,” “vision”… or even straight-ahead terms like “marketing” or “design”?
Correctly defining the problem lead us to an inspired solution but the truth is, it doesn't just “happen.” We find Thomas Edison’s oft-quoted quip holds true: “Genius is 1% inspiration, and 99% perspiration.” We believe in doing our homework, working hard, and having fun with it that’s what makes us “Next Year’s News.”
